Bruno Fernandes was seen attending a game in the Portuguese second tier during the weekend, while he was not required to play for Man Utd.
After being knocked out of the FA Cup following a loss to Brighton in the third round last month, Man Utd had a weekend without fixtures. Bruno Fernandes took advantage of this break to return to his hometown. However, fans were surprised to see images of him attending a match in Portugal's second division.
The Man Utd captain was observed in the stands at Estadio Capital do Movel as Pacos Ferreira drew 0-0 with Torreense. The Portuguese midfielder was photographed wrapped in a green blanket sitting beside his family members.
According to SportTV, the 1994-born star came to support his friend Francisco Ramos, a Pacos player who returned to Portugal last summer after two years playing for Poland's Radomiak Radom club.

— sport tv (@sporttvportugal) February 15, 2026Fernandes and Ramos are believed to have maintained a close relationship for a long time, having played together in Portugal's youth national teams. After the goalless draw against Torreense, Ramos described Fernandes as someone “always special.”
Ramos said: “He is always special. He is someone connected to me and my family. Moreover, having a figure like him from football come watch us play is always special. He respects Portuguese football, respects Pacos de Ferreira, and I am very happy to have him nearby.”
Fernandes is expected to return to England soon as Man Utd prepare for their Premier League round 27 match against Everton on February 24. The "Red Devils" return after a 13-day break since their draw with West Ham, a result that helped them maintain fourth place in the league standings.
Carrick's team seemed likely to suffer their first domestic defeat in 2026 until Benjamin Sesko equalized after Tomas Soucek's opening goal in the 50th minute. Sesko capitalized on a pass from Bryan Mbeumo to score in the 96th minute, securing a point for Man Utd and extending their unbeaten run in the league to nine matches.
