Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is increasingly close to remaining with the team, amid reports that his ex-Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers is interested in bringing him to the Saudi Professional League club Al-Khaleej Al-Khudairiya. It is common practice that during the final phase of a player’s contract renewal, agents generate rumors to secure the most favorable terms.

The 32-year-old Maguire’s contract ends this season, and Manchester United has no extension clause. His current weekly wage is £190,000, but the club wants him to accept a significant pay cut. The English center-back has agreed to reduce his salary, but understandably, everyone hopes to minimize the reduction.
If Maguire chooses to leave Manchester United on a free transfer, his weekly pay would also decrease, but since he could receive a signing bonus, he might actually earn more overall. For instance, many fans wish Maguire would renew at a £80,000 weekly wage at United; with that figure, a signing bonus of £5 million would make his total earnings higher.
Maguire prefers to stay at Manchester United, where the club is expected to offer new contract terms, and the Saudi rumors will help his agent negotiate better conditions. Meanwhile, Maguire’s former teammate McTominay is also pushing for Napoli to sign him in the summer transfer window. McTominay and Maguire were teammates at United for five years and maintain a close relationship, even vacationing together during the off-season.
McTominay has recently become the focus of transfer rumors about a return to Manchester United, following a similar pattern. In fact, his agent has already traveled to Italy to discuss a new contract with the club, which would run until 2030 with an option to extend for another year.

Italian transfer expert Nico Sra said: "Negotiations between McTominay and Napoli for a contract extension are progressing well. A new deal until 2030, with an option for 2031, is on the table and includes a salary increase. Although clubs from the Premier League and Saudi Arabia are interested, McTominay’s priority is to stay with Napoli."
The Saudi team Al-Khaleej Al-Khudairiya, rumored to be interested in signing Maguire, is coached by Rodgers, who previously worked with Maguire at Leicester City. The team currently ranks fourth in the league and is not one of the Saudi PIF-backed top clubs, so joining them is less appealing to Maguire than staying at Manchester United.
Since returning from injury, Maguire has performed excellently, helping caretaker manager Carrick achieve a strong start of 4 wins and 1 draw. Maguire’s partnership with Lisandro Martinez in central defense has received widespread praise. Although this has significantly reduced playing time for young defenders Lenny Yaro and Aden Haiven, especially Haiven, who has barely featured under Carrick.
However, Manchester United believes this helps keep these young players motivated. During the recent off-season, the Red Devils players were given a break, and Yaro and Haiven met in Dubai for extra training sessions, aiming to fight their way back into the starting lineup.

It is understood that Yaro and Haiven have become good friends off the pitch, sharing similar situations and goals of becoming regular starters for Manchester United. Since Carrick took charge, Haiven has only made one appearance, coming on as a substitute in the 91st minute of the Manchester derby. Yaro appeared as a substitute in the 95th minute against Fulham and later replaced the injured Maguire for 22 minutes in an away match at West Ham, where he successfully blocked two counterattacks, preventing the score from widening and helping the Red Devils secure a draw.
