Indonesian national team goalkeeper Emil Audero was selected in the Serie A Team of the Week for Round 25 – the premier football competition in Italy.
Goalkeeper Emil Audero of Indonesia was recently honored by being included in the Serie A Round 25 Team of the Week – Italy’s highest-level football league. This recognition is well-deserved for his impressive performances with Cremonese. In this round, Audero stood out as a key player, significantly contributing to his team’s positive result against a strong opponent.
In the match held on February 15 at Giovanni Zini Stadium, Cremonese faced Genoa. Given the starting goalkeeper role, Audero delivered an outstanding performance by repeatedly denying dangerous chances from the visitors. His solidity and sharp reflexes helped Cremonese withstand heavy pressure, securing a crucial point.
Statistics show Genoa made 18 shots, with Audero successfully making 6 critical saves. His acrobatic stops and command of the penalty area made him a “steel shield” in front of the goal. The specialist site FotMob awarded the Indonesian keeper a rating of 8.4 – the highest in the Cremonese squad for this round.
In the 3-4-3 formation of the weekly best eleven, Audero is alongside Serie A stars like Gleison Bremer (Juventus), Evan Ndicka (AS Roma), and Piotr Zielinski (Inter Milan). His inclusion highlights not only his consistent play but also his level matching the top players in the league.
Emil Audero was born in 1997 in Mataram, Indonesia, to an Indonesian father and an Italian mother. He moved to Italy at a young age and developed through Juventus’s prestigious youth academy. Before choosing to represent Indonesia, Audero played for Italy’s youth teams from U15 to U21, hoping for a senior call-up.
After long persuasion from the Indonesian Football Federation, Audero decided to return and serve his birth country. He officially regained Indonesian citizenship in March 2025 and debuted in the national team during the World Cup 2026 Asian qualifiers against China. His success in Serie A not only elevates his personal reputation but also brings great pride to Indonesian football.
