With Arne Slot's position at Liverpool in doubt, Jurgen Klopp is said to have reached a conclusion regarding his potential return to Anfield.
According to The Telegraph, despite the pressure Arne Slot faces following Liverpool's disappointing run of results, the chance of Jurgen Klopp coming back to Anfield is almost nonexistent.
Reports confirm that Liverpool's leadership, including FSG chairman Mike Gordon and executives Edwards and Ward, have no intention of reinstating Klopp. They view last season as proof that Liverpool can succeed without the German coach's guidance, and the appointment of Slot was a carefully considered decision.
However, this does not mean Slot is immune to the risk of being sacked. The Anfield club invested £8 million to bring him from Feyenoord, and he has delivered a Premier League title, a factor highly valued by FSG.
Meanwhile, rumors about Klopp's possible return continue to spread, especially as Slot has only temporarily eased pressure with a recent 3-0 victory over Brighton. Many fans reminisce about Klopp’s golden era: nearly a decade from 2015 to 2024, during which he led Liverpool to the 2019/20 Premier League title and the 2018/19 Champions League triumph.
Currently, Klopp serves as Global Head of Football at Red Bull and has stated he wanted to rest after nine years at Anfield. However, his recent appearance on the Diary of a CEO show has fueled speculation about a comeback. When asked, Klopp affirmed he would not coach any other English club besides Liverpool, leading many to believe the door for a reunion remains theoretically open.
Nevertheless, given FSG’s clear stance and Liverpool’s current direction, Klopp’s return seems nearly impossible at this time. This, in turn, stabilizes Slot’s position. If Klopp truly wished to come back, the pressure on the Dutch manager would be much greater, but for now, that does not appear to be the case.
