The goal scored by Đình Bắc in the match versus Tampines Rovers on 18/2 was ruled out after VAR review.
In the 56th minute, following a skillful play by Nguyễn Quang Hải, a precise through ball was delivered to Nguyễn Đình Bắc who sprinted forward to shoot from a tight angle. His first attempt was blocked by the opposing defense, but on the rebound, he managed to put the ball past goalkeeper Kasey Rogers.
However, the Vietnamese side’s joy was short-lived. After consulting VAR, the referee decided that a Tampines Rovers player had been fouled in the preceding play, leading to Đình Bắc’s goal being disallowed. Just one minute later, the home team capitalized on the opportunity to score again, increasing the score to 2-0.
Earlier, coach Mano Polking substituted Đình Bắc in at the 30th minute for Vitao to boost Công an Hà Nội FC’s attacking power. Despite controlling the game better, the police team lacked sharpness in finishing. Ultimately, CAHN suffered a 1-3 defeatand lost 1-6 on aggregate after two legs, officially ending their journey in the AFC Champions League Two round of 16.
Notably, this was the second time Đình Bắc had a goal disallowed in this tournament. In the first leg on 11/2, he scored in CAHN’s 4-0 win over Tampines, but later the AFC awarded a 3-0 loss to the Vietnamese club due to fielding an ineligible player, which nullified the young striker’s goal as well.
After being eliminated from ACL Two, Công an Hà Nội will have only one competition left to aim for this season, which is the V-League.
