Indonesian fans caused chaos again during the AFC Cup 2 match

Ratchaburi FC shared footage showing the disorder following their loss to Persib Bandung in the ACL2 round of 16, as home supporters stormed the field creating turmoil, compelling the visiting team to quickly retreat to the dressing room to ensure their safety.

In the early hours of February 19, Ratchaburi FC uploaded a video recording the chaotic events after the second leg of the round of 16 AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api stadium.

In this match, the Thai League 1 representative lost 0-1 to Persib Bandung. However, thanks to a 3-0 win in the first leg, Ratchaburi advanced with an aggregate score of 3-1, marking their first-ever appearance in the tournament quarterfinals.

Immediately after the final whistle, the atmosphere on the field became extremely tense. Many home fans, frustrated by their team's elimination, flooded the pitch, ignited flares, and caused disruptions. Some even rushed towards the visiting team's area, forcing Ratchaburi players and coaching staff to flee quickly.

According to images shared by the club Thailand the entire team had to run straight into the away team’s locker room to seek refuge. Not only players but also staff and Ratchaburi fans who traveled to Indonesia had to urgently find shelter.

In the statement accompanying the video, Ratchaburi described: “The post-match atmosphere was very chaotic. Fans flooded the pitch, flares kept going off. The whole team had to rush into the locker room as fast as possible. Fortunately, everyone is safe.”

Notably, this is not the first time football matches held in Indonesia have seen similar chaotic scenes. In the past, many stadiums in the country have witnessed fans invading the pitch, lighting flares, or engaging in fights after intense games, making stadium security a major concern for organizers and visiting teams.

This incident was also widely reported by Thai media, including Thairath. Currently, the tournament organizers and the Asian Football Confederation are expected to review and assess the security violations by the host team.
