After CAHN Club lost to Tampines Rovers in the round of 16, Vietnam has no remaining representatives in the AFC Cup 2 (ACL2 2025/26).
The journey of Vietnamese clubs in the 2025/26 AFC Champions League Two has officially ended as both CAHN FC and Nam Dinh FC were eliminated, leaving Vietnamese football without any presence in this continental competition.
CAHN progressed the furthest by finishing second in Group E after 6 matches in the group stage. However, the police-affiliated team faced a setback in the round of 16, being handed a 0-3 loss in the first leg against Tampines Rovers due to fielding an ineligible player. Despite their strong effort in the second leg, CAHN still suffered a 1-3 defeat and were officially knocked out with an aggregate score of 1-6 over the two legs.
Meanwhile, Nam Dinh was knocked out during the group stage. Drawn into a tough group featuring Gamba Osaka, the V-League representative earned 9 points from 3 wins but finished third due to losing the head-to-head tiebreaker against Ratchaburi. Defeats against direct rivals cost Nam Dinh the chance to control their own destiny in the race to advance.
The early exits of both teams highlight the significant gap in quality between Vietnamese clubs and the broader Asian football standard. Nonetheless, the experience gained this season is expected to provide a valuable foundation for Vietnamese teams to enhance their competitiveness in future tournaments.
In the Southeast Asian region, three clubs have reached the quarterfinals: Ratchaburi, Bangkok United (Thailand), and Tampines Rovers (Singapore).
