Top 10 players with the biggest value drops in 2025: All superstar names

Elite football leaves no room for lagging behind, and 2025 has demonstrated this more clearly than ever. According to the latest update from Transfermarkt, numerous stars once valued sky-high have experienced astonishingly steep declines.

Recently, Transfermarkt released statistics on the players who suffered the most significant drops in transfer value in 2025. What surprised fans was that most of these players are key figures at leading European clubs, some even contenders for prestigious individual awards. This sharp decline in valuation clearly reflects the harshness of top-tier football, where form and fitness can change everything within a single season.

Topping the list is Phil Foden, Manchester City's star. The 2000-born player lost as much as 52 million pounds, the biggest drop of the year. From over 120 million pounds, his value now stands around 69 million. Man City's unstable 2024/25 season, combined with Foden scoring only 13 goals in nearly 50 matches, caused his attacking midfielder value to lose its previous standing.

Right behind Foden is Rodri. The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner lost nearly 48 million pounds due to a serious knee injury and ongoing fitness issues. Limited appearances in the 2025/26 season pushed the Spanish midfielder’s valuation down to just over 65 million pounds. His teammate Bernardo Silva also faced a similar fate, dropping nearly 29 million pounds to about 23 million — a rare low for a player once considered the midfield’s heartbeat.

Following this trend, Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard saw his value “blown away” by over 30 million pounds. Persistent injuries last year prevented the Norwegian playmaker from maintaining his usual influence, even though his tactical role at Emirates remains crucial.

At Liverpool, star signing Florian Wirtz also appears on this list. Over one year, the German international’s value dropped by around 26 million pounds, falling below 100 million. Adjusting to a new environment and the intense pace of the Premier League are seen as main reasons why Wirtz has yet to explode as expected.

In Spain, Vinícius Júnior is the most notable name, losing over 43 million pounds due to a dip in performance. Nevertheless, the Real Madrid star still holds a valuation above 130 million. His teammates Rodrygo and Eduardo Camavinga also saw significant decreases, closing a turbulent year for many superstars who once stood at the pinnacle.
