Ronaldo and Messi are not considered the best by a former teammate

Having shared the field with Ronaldo and Messi, a former Real Madrid player shocked fans by not naming these two legends as the most skillful teammates he has witnessed.

Legendary goalkeeper Keylor Navas stunned when he did not pick Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo as the most talented teammate he ever played with. Instead, the player who amazed Navas was Neymar.

Throughout his peak career, Navas played for Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, sharing the pitch with some of the world’s top stars. He was the last line of defense behind Ronaldo at Madrid, and later played alongside Messi and Kylian Mbappe at PSG. However, when asked who possessed the most impressive natural talent, the Costa Rican goalkeeper put aside the famed Ballon d’Or winners.

In an interview with AS, Navas was candid: “We are talking about the greatest stars of the last several decades. But in terms of pure talent on the field, Neymar is the one who impressed me the most. He can do anything he wants with the ball, with both his left and right foot. Watching Neymar play feels like playing with kids. He is truly extraordinary.”

According to Navas, it is Neymar’s creativity, perfect two-footed technique, and unpredictable ability to change the game that made him stand out among all teammates he has seen in over 20 years of professional football.

At 39, Navas currently plays for Pumas in Mexico but maintains consistent performance. He also praised former teammates like Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, who continue to play strongly into their 30s. “There are no secrets in football. They are absolutely professional, which is why they maintain such form,” he said.

Navas won three consecutive Champions League titles under coach Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid during what he considers the peak of his career. The Costa Rican goalkeeper revealed Zidane’s secret to success was his ability to manage the locker room and inspire his players.

Although he once shared the field with the two icons Messi and Ronaldo,Navas’ choice shows that in his eyes, Neymar is the most skillful artist he has ever witnessed on the pitch.
