During the 2026 Lunar New Year, veteran striker Nguyễn Văn Quyết took time to return to his hometown in Hữu Bằng commune (Thạch Thất, Hanoi) and visited the family of young defender Nguyễn Hiểu Minh.
The heartfelt meeting between the two players was shared by Hiểu Minh’s father on his personal page, drawing attention from fans. In the photo, Văn Quyết sat beside his junior who is recovering from an injury, still bandaged and using crutches to move around.
More than just a simple visit, this early-year meeting between the two players highlighted the close bond of hometown comrades, as both were born and raised in Hữu Bằng commune (Thạch Thất). The presence of the experienced senior in the early days of the year was regarded by locals as a great moral boost, helping the young defender gain confidence and determination in his recovery journey to return to the field soon.
Hiểu Minh developed through the PVF academy and currently plays as a central defender for PVF-CAND. He recently underwent knee ligament surgery at the end of January following an injury sustained during the 2026 AFC U23 Championship. The player is expected to need several months for recovery and may return to play by the end of the year if progress goes well.
During his rehabilitation, Hiểu Minh is likely to miss most of the plans for both the Vietnam U23 team and the national team in 2026, including major regional and continental tournaments.
As for Nguyễn Văn Quyết, he is one of the most decorated footballers in Vietnam over the past decade. Excelling as an attacking midfielder and striker, the captain of Hanoi FC has won numerous domestic titles and regularly represents the national team. With his experience, composure, and professional image, he is considered a great role model for many young players, including Hiểu Minh.
