Head coach of Malaysia’s national team, Mr. Peter Cklamovski, has officially denied rumors suggesting he might resign soon, affirming his full commitment to the “Harimau Malaya” squad, especially for the upcoming match against Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
In response to speculation about leaving his position, the Australian strategist gave a firm reply: "I am still here. That is probably the strongest answer I can give." This move is seen as an effort to reassure Malaysian fans amid concerns that he might follow the path of his predecessor Kim Pan Gon, who resigned in July 2024 despite having a valid contract.
In an interview with Malaysian media, Cklamovski admitted he had attracted interest from several clubs and federations but emphasized that his current priority remains the national team.
"I had opportunities to leave. I have received interest from other countries worldwide. But I am motivated to achieve something special with the Malaysian national team."
He also candidly spoke about emotions he experienced during his tenure: "Lack of progress, lack of ambition, lack of passion to move forward together… those might be some feelings that led to such thoughts. But honestly, I never considered leaving."
After clarifying his future, the 46-year-old coach said the entire team is focusing on the crucial match against Vietnam on March 31st: "We are eagerly awaiting the challenge of playing away against Vietnam. We will strive to bring the game back to Malaysia with a strong determination to defeat them."
"Just getting there, winning again, and making all Malaysians proud of our style of play. It will definitely be a tough away match, but we are looking forward to that challenge and will go there with a strong spirit."
Regarding the team’s secrecy in preparation recently, the Australian coach explained that he wants to fully focus on the technical aspects.
"I work in the present, I do what is required now, and I have a vision for the future. Judge me based on what I have done as the head coach of the national team. Nothing else."
"I believe in Malaysian football, perhaps even more than the Malaysian people believe in it. I see development, I see opportunities, I see potential in Malaysian football. Thowever, at this moment, everything depends on March. We must complete the job in March. March is everything for us."
