On the day Đồng Nai FC resumed training after the Tet holiday, forward Nguyễn Công Phượng was still unable to join the team due to an incomplete recovery from injury.
On the afternoon of February 20 (the 4th day of Tet), Đồng Nai Club officially regrouped after nearly a week off. However, Công Phượng could only do light training outside the field following a personalized program under the coaching staff’s supervision.
The forward born in 1995 encounteredphysical condition issues during the match against Khánh Hòa Club in the 8th round of the First Division on January 31. Although the injury was not severe, the medical team chose a cautious approach to prevent the player from returning too soon.
During the recent Tet holiday, Công Phượng spent a few days in Nghệ An to reunite with his family before returning to the club. Currently, he continues a dedicated rehabilitation program to ensure optimal fitness upon his comeback.
Previously, through his main club, the Nghệ An native forward sent New Year greetings to fans:"On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2026, I wish everyone good health, peace, and lots of good luck."
This season, Đồng Nai has been performing impressively, leading the standings after 9 rounds with 21 points, holding a 4-point lead over second-place TP.HCM FC. The Southeast region team remains unbeaten with 6 wins and 3 draws.
According to the schedule, on February 27, Đồng Nai will host Đồng Tháp FC in the 10th round. If fully recovered, Công Phượng’s return is expected to strengthen the team’s promotion ambitions.
