Following several months of tough legal battles, Kylian Mbappe secured a major win as Paris Saint-Germain chose not to contest the decision to pay a large sum in wages and bonuses.
The relationship between Kylian Mbappe and his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) had already fractured since his transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024. The peak of the conflict was the prolonged lawsuit regarding unsettled financial payments. However, in the latest pivotal development, the French giant officially abandoned the right to appeal the ruling by the Paris Labor Court.
Previously, at the end of 2025, the court ruled against PSG and ordered them to pay the French superstar a total of 61 million euros. Although there was a one-month window to appeal (starting from January 20, 2026), the club’s management decided to stop to avoid unnecessary prolonged legal troubles.
With this decision not to appeal, Kylian Mbappe officially received extremely good news in his career. As requested by the arbitration council, PSG must promptly release the amount of 55 million euros. This sum corresponds to the salary and bonuses Mbappe was supposed to receive in his final year playing under coach Luis Enrique but were withheld by the club after a bitter departure.
A representative of PSG told the newspaper Le Parisien: “Paris Saint-Germain is now decisively looking to the future, focusing on its sports project and collective success.”This statement indicates the French club’s intention to close the past chapter and concentrate on new goals instead of being bogged down in legal battles with a “former player.”
Although PSG agreed to pay 55 million euros, there remains a minor unresolved issue. This concerns an additional 5.9 million euros related to unused vacation pay which Mbappe’s side claims is still outstanding. However, PSG’s lawyer Renaud Semerdjian strongly denied this and affirmed: “Paris Saint-Germain has fulfilled all obligations under this ruling, whether it be the payment of owed amounts or the announcement of the judgment.”
Despite small disputes over minor figures, receiving 55 million euros is undoubtedly a huge victory both financially and in terms of honor for the French captain. After the official appeal deadline passed, the final chapter of this 61 million euro dispute is effectively closed. Mbappe can now fully dedicate himself to Real Madrid with the most relaxed mindset.
