The Vietnam women's futsal team has departed to compete in the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship.
On the morning of February 22, the Vietnam women's futsal team left for Thailand to take part in the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship, officially starting their quest to defend their title in the regional futsal arena.
Before heading to Thailand, the Vietnam women's futsal team completed an important training phase in Japan and played two quality friendly matches against Bardral Urayasu women's futsal club — one of Japan’s top-level teams.
The 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship gathers the region’s top 7 women's futsal teams, including: Thailand (ranked 8th in the world), Vietnam – the defending champion (ranked 11th worldwide), Indonesia (ranked 18th), Malaysia (ranked 21st), Myanmar (ranked 38th), Australia (ranked 66th), and the Philippines (ranked 69th). According to the draw results, Vietnam’s women's futsal team is placed in Group B alongside Myanmar, the Philippines, and Australia; Group A consists of host Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
With thorough preparation, especially the training and competitive matches in Japan, the Vietnam women's futsal team is expected to maintain stable performance, demonstrate the resilience of Southeast Asian and SEA Games 33 champions, and aim for the highest achievements in the tournament.
The 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship will take place from February 24 to March 2, 2026, at Terminal Hall, Terminal 21 Shopping Center, Nakhon Ratchasima Province (Thailand). Matches are free for spectators and will be broadcast live on the TrueVisions Now platform (Thailand).
As the Southeast Asian and SEA Games 33 champions, the Vietnam team is expected to continue proving their class, maintaining steady form and competitive spirit in the regional competition.
