Bruno Cannavan, head coach of the Australian women's futsal team, gave important remarks before their first game facing Vietnam's women's futsal team on February 24 afternoon.

At 1:30 PM on February 24, the Vietnam women's futsal team will kick off their campaign against the Australian women's futsal team in Group B of the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship. Before the match, Coach Bruno Cannavan stated:

“For us, returning to competition after about a year without national team activities is very special. Although we have played matches at the Asian Cup, we haven't participated in many other tournaments.

Being here and competing in the Southeast Asian Championship for the first time is a great honor for us, and we are excited to test ourselves against teams in the region," he said.

“I believe the competition will be intense. We will give our all. Even though our team is relatively new to international play and still adapting to international matches, we will do our best and believe this will be a highly competitive tournament,”Coach Cannavan emphasized.

Finally, the coach reiterated that the team is still developing and gaining experience on the international stage. Participating in this tournament is an important step in building a long-term squad and serves as a key test before advancing to the Asian level in the future.

As for, Vietnam women's futsal team head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang he expressed great respect for all three opponents in Group B. However, the entire team is very confident in aiming to defend the championship title they previously won.

After facing Vietnam, Australia will play against Myanmar's women's futsal team on February 25 and the Philippines on February 26.
