Legend Paul Parker cautions Manchester United not to pursue Vinicius Junior and instead recommends Morgan Rogers as a better fit for their summer 2026 transfer strategy.
Manchester United legend, Paul Parker attracted attention by opposing the possibility of his former club signing Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid in the 2026 summer transfer window.
As the Red Devils are back in the Premier League top 4 race under interim coach Michael Carrick, rumors suggest Old Trafford could make a blockbuster signing if they qualify for the Champions League. Vinicius, once a Ballon d’Or contender, is reportedly reconsidering his future at Bernabeu and has long been linked with the Premier League.
However, Parker doubts that the Brazilian star is the right fit. According to the former defender, Vinicius possesses exceptional talent but frequently gets involved in on-field controversies. He believes the 25-year-old is easily provoked and loses composure, which could negatively impact the entire team. Parker even labeled Vinicius as a “provocateur,” referring to his tendency to be at the center of intense confrontations.
Furthermore, Parker expressed skepticism about West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen as an alternative. He considers Bowen a quality player but believes he has reached his development ceiling and is unlikely to elevate Manchester United. If he joins Old Trafford, the English international would probably serve as a rotation option rather than a regular starter.
Conversely, Parker holds Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa in high regard. He describes Rogers as one of England’s finest attacking midfielders currently and fully capable of becoming a key player at Manchester United. Nonetheless, Parker acknowledges that convincing Villa to part with him will be challenging, especially since coach Unai Emery views Rogers as a crucial asset.
Currently, Manchester United’s transfer budget heavily depends on whether they secure European competition qualification and the decision on a permanent head coach after the 2025/26 season.
