Pedri attracted attention by openly expressing his desire for Barcelona to sign Kylian Mbappe and admitting he feels “intimidated” racing against Mbappe and Vinicius, while Benfica is in turmoil over racism allegations.
Midfielder Pedri recently delighted fans by frankly admitting he wants to bring Kylian Mbappe to Barcelona, while also feeling “daunted” at the thought of racing against the French star or Vinicius Jr.
During an appearance on the Spanish TV show El Hormiguero with teammate Ferran Torres, Pedri was asked which Real Madrid star he would sign for Blaugrana if given the chance.
Without hesitation, Pedri turned to Ferran Torres and both almost answered in unison: “Mbappe.”
When further questioned about the opponent he least wants to face in a speed race, the Spanish midfielder again mentioned familiar names: “A player I don’t want to race against? Almost all of them, because I’m a bit slow. For me, it’s Mbappe and Vinicius. When the ball is at Vinicius Jr’s feet, all you can do is pray. He runs three times faster than me," Pedri shared with a laugh.
Meanwhile, another development involving Real Madrid and Benfica is attracting attention. The agent of young talent Gianluca Prestianni, Gaston Fernandez, harshly criticized UEFA’s handling of racism allegations of racial discrimination during the match between Benfica and Real Madrid in the Champions League.
According to Fernandez, his client was unfairly suspended, while Vinicius Junior and Mbappe faced no sanctions despite, in his words, there being insulting accusations aimed at Prestianni.
“There is evidence showing Vinicius and Mbappe slandered and insulted Prestianni, but no proof that Prestianni acted in a racist manner — yet only he was suspended,” Fernandez declared.
He also confirmed he will pursue the matter fully: “Is UEFA’s criteria completely unbiased? We will take Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius to court after the UEFA case concludes.”
These statements promise to keep the off-field controversy involving Real Madrid and Benfica stars heated in the near future.
