Midfielder Amar Ćatić has been training with Thanh Hoa FC and is waiting for the club's FIFA transfer ban to be lifted for his official debut.
Amidst a thin squad and increasing pressure to avoid relegation, Thanh Hoa FC is close to finalizing a notable addition named Amar Ćatić. The Bosnian midfielder has been in Thanh Hoa for several days, training with the team while awaiting the fulfillment of legal conditions for his official introduction.
Reportedly, Ćatić cannot sign a contract yet because Thanh Hoa is under a FIFA transfer ban. The club's management is actively resolving outstanding payments to former players and coaches to have the sanction lifted soon. If the procedures are completed, the 1999-born player will be registered to play in the second leg of the V-League 2025/26.
Amar Ćatić is 1.78m tall, plays as a winger, and was called up to the Bosnia U19 and U21 teams between 2017 and 2019. He made 9 appearances and scored 1 goal at the international youth level. At the club level, the midfielder developed at the PSV Eindhoven academy, one of the most renowned training centers in the Netherlands.
In the 2019/2020 season, Ćatić made two appearances for PSV in the Europa League. Subsequently, he transferred to ADO Den Haag, playing 14 matches in the Dutch Eredivisie during the 2020/21 season and spending two more seasons in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. His career path also included stints in Germany and Turkey before he was introduced to Thanh Hoa.
According to Transfermarkt's valuation, Ćatić is currently worth approximately €250,000 (over 7.7 billion VND). With his experience in European football, he is expected to enhance the quality of the wings for the Thanh Hoa team during this crucial phase of the season.
Thanh Hoa recently went through a series of 3 matches using only 16–17 players, even having to field goalkeeper Y Êli Niê as a forward in the match against CAHN on February 24th. Despite the squad shortages, they managed to secure 4 points from these 3 matches and currently have 12 points after 13 rounds, ranking 12th. If the procedures for Amar Ćatić's debut are completed soon, it would provide a significant boost for their relegation battle.
