Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens is rising as one of MU's most significant finds this season, having recently shared the unexpected key to his achievements.
Since arriving at Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp for an £18 million fee in September, Lammens quickly secured the starting spot and became the first-choice goalkeeper. His consistency, excellent reflexes, and composure have made him a crucial part of the "Red Devils'" strong recent resurgence.
Interestingly, Lammens' inspiration does not come solely from football. Instead of spending his free time reviewing matches or studying tactics, the 23-year-old keeper chooses to read books about sporting legends like Tiger Woods and LeBron James. He reveals he is currently reading Woods' autobiography to gain deeper insight into the golfer's competitive mindset and how he overcame adversity.

Rather than using his spare time to rewatch games or analyze strategies, 23-year-old Senne Lammens opts to read about sports icons such as Tiger Woods and LeBron James.
Speaking during a school visit in Manchester for "World Book Day," while representing the MU Foundation, Lammens stated: "I don't actually watch too much football. At the club, everything is already about football, so sometimes you need to mentally switch off a bit. I'm a fan of sports in general. I enjoy watching other sports and observing how top athletes prepare and think for their competitions. You can learn a lot from their competitive psychology."
He particularly emphasized the mental toughness of NBA stars like the late legend Kobe Bryant and LeBron James – individuals who maintained an unwavering desire to win and absolute professionalism throughout their careers.
According to Lammens, reading about how athletes handle pressure, overcome injuries, and manage stress has helped him mature in the high-stakes environment of top-level football.
Joining a club with such a rich tradition as MU comes with immense pressure. Lammens admits it initially took him time to adapt to the media and fan attention. However, under interim manager Michael Carrick, he is embracing this challenge. "Pressure largely depends on how you view it. I try to stay relaxed and focused. When the team wins, everything becomes much more enjoyable," Lammens shared.
The Belgian goalkeeper also praised the united spirit in the dressing room, highlighting the positive atmosphere as the foundation for their recent impressive run of form. With a solid psychological foundation and a unique approach, Senne Lammens is steadily establishing himself as a new pillar in the Old Trafford goal.
