Malaysian media conveys its eagerness as the International Court of Arbitration for Sport holds off on delivering a final verdict regarding the Malaysian Football Association's appeal about seven naturalized players.
According to the latest information, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will not yet announce the final outcome regarding the Malaysian Football Association's appeal concerning seven naturalized players. Consequently, the adjudicating panel requires additional time to study and evaluate the case files before issuing the final ruling, pushing the announcement date to next week.
This announcement from CAS immediately stirred up Malaysian media. As a result, everyone is eagerly awaiting the final decision. The newspaper Berita Harian writes: "Malaysian football fans are expected to wait until next week to learn the outcome of the appeal concerning seven Harimau Malaya-born players at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)."
The Star newspaper expresses its anticipation: "The CAS hearing has concluded, with no immediate ruling while FAM continues to wait."This newspaper even emailed the CAS media office, headed by Vanessa Tracey, to seek clarification regarding this postponement of the announcement.
Previously, Malaysia's prominent sports news site, Makan Bola, pointed out that Malaysia is facing three possible scenarios from CAS.
"There are three scenarios the seven players might face: if the case favors the national players, it is highly likely the penalty they receive will be reduced. Alternatively, the decision might remain unchanged, meaning the sanction imposed by the world football governing body will stand," the site writes.
Meanwhile, football analyst Zakaria Rahim expresses pessimism about the future of Malaysian football: "The AFC may have already made a decision, just awaiting announcement after CAS's ruling. If CAS's decision is to reduce the penalty, it still means he is guilty (regarding the document forgery case)," he stated.
