Kerem Akturkoglu's double brought the Turkish team to within one goal of equalizing the knockout round playoff tie at the City Ground, however Callum Hudson-Odoi calmed Forest's anxieties by scoring in the 68th minute to secure a 4-2 aggregate victory and a spot in the round of 16.
With Forest merely two points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, Pereira explained to reporters that he was also considering Sunday's fixture versus Brighton.
"We endured some difficulties, but this is the stage of the season where we must consider not just one match, but the upcoming game," he stated.
"I chose to take this chance because I must think about the Brighton match; it is extremely significant for us. We need to arrive there with stamina and vitality. My choices were not solely focused on this one game."
Forest will next meet either FC Midtjylland or Real Betis in the Europa League's subsequent round.
"We have aspirations in the Europa League; our goal is to advance to the next phase," said Pereira, who is Forest's fourth head coach this season following Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche.
"Our position in the Premier League table is not secure, and it is crucial for us to earn points to steer clear of a tough predicament."
Forest sit 17th with 27 points, only two points above West Ham United.
