The young forward Ngoc Minh Chuyen is highly regarded by AFC ahead of the 2026 Asian Cup finals.
On the eve of the Final Round AFC Asian Cup Australia 2026, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced the standout players from each group. In Group C, the selection of young forward Ngoc Minh Chuyen to represent the Vietnam women's team has attracted significant attention.
Notably, AFC did not mention experienced pillars like Huynh Nhu, Thanh Nha, or Bich Thuy, instead placing trust in a new young face aged just 21.
According to AFC's assessment, Minh Chuyen is seen as the potential successor to Huynh Nhu's role in the Vietnam women's team attack. This player impresses with her fierce competitive spirit, skillful dribbling ability, and energetic playing style, consistently applying great pressure on the opponent's defense.
"Regarded as the potential successor to the renowned forward Huynh Nhu, Ngoc Minh Chuyen (21 years old) will aim to prove her talent and live up to the expectations."
Alongside Minh Chuyen, the three other standout players introduced by AFC are Japan's Yui Hasegawa, India's Sangita Basfore, and Taiwan's He Jia-Shiuan.
Group C of the Vietnam women's national team is considered highly competitive. Japan is viewed as a strong contender for the top spot, while Chinese Taipei and India both possess squads that cannot be underestimated. However, experts note that the Vietnam women's team still has a chance to advance if they maintain stable form.
