Coach Mai Duc Chung's team arrives in Australia, eager for the Asian Cup journey

The Vietnamese women's national football team, following two flight legs from Hanoi, has landed in Perth (Australia) carrying a determined and enthusiastic spirit for the 2026 Asian Cup Finals.

According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the team's flight landed at 8:50 AM (local time).

Despite the lengthy travel journey, all team members maintained an optimistic spirit, showing high determination to prepare for the upcoming challenges.

Upon landing at the airport, the team received a warm welcome from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Australia, along with a large crowd of fans waiting to show their affection and support for the golden girls.

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Consul General of Vietnam in Australia was present to greet and encourage the entire team.

After completing procedures and moving to the hotel, team members quickly settled in at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel, about a 25-minute bus ride from the airport.

In a cheerful and lively atmosphere, the whole team began preparations for the training session scheduled for this evening, aiming to maintain peak physical condition and competitive spirit ahead of the important upcoming matches.

The Vietnamese women's team will face India (6:00 PM on March 4), Chinese Taipei (12:00 PM on March 7), and Japan (4:00 PM on March 10). All matches will take place at Perth Rectangular Stadium, Australia.

Matches of the Vietnamese women's team will be broadcast live on TV360, along with channels of Vietnam Television (VTV) and Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV).

Recently, in the introduction of standout players from teams in Group C of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup held in Australia, AFC selected young player Ngoc Minh Chuyen, not names like Huynh Nhu, Thanh Nha, or Bich Thuy.

AFC's evaluation of Minh Chuyen: "Seen as a potential successor to the famed striker Huynh Nhu, Ngoc Minh Chuyen (21 years old) will aim to prove her talent to live up to the expectations."

The 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup Finals take place from March 1 to 21 in Australia with the participation of 12 teams, divided into 3 groups. After the group stage, the top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.

In this tournament, the teams' goals include not only the championship but also qualification for the 2027 World Cup. According to AFC regulations, the top 6 performing teams from the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup Finals in Australia will earn spots in the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil. The 8 quarter-finalists will qualify for the final round of women's football qualification for the 2028 Olympics.
