As per the division, the Vietnamese futsal squad finds itself in the number 2 seeded group at the 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship.
The 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship is officially scheduled to take place from April 5th to 11th, 2026, at the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization Gymnasium in Nonthaburi province (Thailand). This year's tournament brings together 9 regional teams, promising exciting competition for the Southeast Asian futsal crown.
According to a recent announcement by the organizers, the teams have been divided into 5 seeding groups ahead of the draw. In the top group, hosts Thailand and Indonesia are rated the highest. Group 2 consists of Vietnam and Australia, while Malaysia and Myanmar are in Group 3. Timor-Leste and Cambodia belong to Group 4, with Brunei being the sole team in Group 5.
The 9 teams will be split into two groups, one with 4 teams and the other with 5. The group stage runs from April 5th to 7th to determine the top 4 teams for the semi-finals on April 9th. The third-place match and the final will be held on April 11th.
The official tournament draw is scheduled for 14:00 on March 1st, 2026, at Korat Terminal 21 in Nakhon Ratchasima province. This is considered a key milestone to kick off the event before the teams embark on their journey to conquer the regional futsal title.
In the 2024 edition, the Vietnamese futsal team finished as runners-up, after losing 0-2 to Indonesia in the final. As one of the strongest teams in Southeast Asia, the Vietnam futsal squad is expected to continue competing strongly for a deep run, even aiming for the championship title.
