Coach Le Quang Trai highlighted the difference in team quality as the reason HAGL could not spring a surprise on the "powerhouse" CAHN.
On the evening of February 28th, HAGL Club suffered a comeback defeat with a 1-3 scoreline against CAHN in Round 14 of V-League 2025/26. In the first half, the Mountain Street team started proactively, maintained good team shape, and executed a fairly coherent playing style. Their reward came with the opening goal, creating a relatively balanced match situation against the home team's experienced squad.
However, the complexion of the game changed markedly after the break. As CAHN increased the tempo and continuously introduced new attacking options, HAGL gradually lost control of the midfield. Intense pressure in the final 15 minutes exposed numerous gaps in the visitors' defensive system, leading to three consecutive conceded goals.
Speaking after the match, Coach Le Quang Trai candidly pointed out the turning point of the game: "In the first half, we approached the match relatively well. However, from the middle of the second half onwards, the team lost control of the game's flow, resulting in conceding goals in quick succession."
The tactician also acknowledged the reality of the force comparison between the two teams: "Naturally, there is a gap between our squad and that of Hanoi Police. My players trained hard and prepared thoroughly, but unfortunately, they couldn't hold onto the scoreline."
On the pitch, when CAHN ramped up the pressure with their quality attacking players, HAGL's young defensive line, despite their efforts, could not hold firm. Goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien made several notable saves, but it wasn't enough to prevent the team from collapsing under the opponent's relentless offensive onslaught.
Despite the defeat, Coach Le Quang Trai still gave a positive assessment of the Mountain Street team's progress: "We are a relatively young team. We have only one goal: to train hard. What was shown on the pitch is the result of that hard work."
Therefore, the loss at Hang Day Stadium not only revealed the gap in experience and squad depth but also served as a crucial lesson for HAGL in maintaining stability and composure during the decisive moments of a match.
