The Vietnamese women's national team is ready for their opening match of the 2026 Asian Cup.

The Vietnamese women's football team conducted their second training session in Perth (Australia) this afternoon, March 1st, diligently working on technical aspects as they prepare with concentration and resolve for their opening fixture against India at 18:00 on March 4th.

Drawing on the experience gained from a 7-day training camp in China, the entire team has quickly adapted to the weather and pitch conditions in Australia.

The coaching staff focused on strengthening tactical components, enhancing coordination between lines, and adjusting the training load to match the competition's intensity.

Speaking before the training session on the afternoon of March 1st, forward Ngoc Minh Chuyen stated: "My teammates and I are putting in great effort for this tournament. We previously had a 7-day training camp in China. This was a valuable opportunity to learn from each match and prepare thoroughly before the competition begins."

Having participated in the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup final round, Ngoc Minh Chuyen considers those past international experiences crucial preparation: "I took part in the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup final round, a very challenging tournament. I competed against high-quality youth national teams, particularly the young Japanese players. From that, I gained a lot of experience to aim for a top continental women's football tournament like this final round."

Expressing honor at being given another opportunity with the Vietnamese women's national team, the young player affirmed: "I am very honored by the coaching staff's trust. I will strive to learn even more. This is a major tournament and will be a memorable milestone in my career."

Earlier this morning (March 1st), the entire team met with Asian Football Confederation (AFC) representatives at their hotel for a general tournament briefing and an update on notable points in the competition regulations.

Preparatory work is being carried out comprehensively, ensuring the Vietnamese women's team steps onto the field with proactivity and the highest determination.

The 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup final tournament features 12 teams divided into 3 groups of 4. According to the format, the top two teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals; the quarter-final winners progress to the semi-finals, while the quarter-final losers will compete in a play-off round. The final is scheduled for March 21st.

As per the Asian Football Confederation's calculations, 6 direct qualification spots for the 2027 Women's World Cup will be awarded to the 4 semi-finalists and the 2 winners of the play-off matches. The two losing teams from the play-offs will enter an intercontinental play-off for a chance to qualify.
