Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta expressed one thing after a tense victory over Chelsea.

The Gunners took the lead thanks to a set-piece goal from William Saliba, but conceded an equalizer from a corner when Piero Hincapie accidentally scored an own goal from Reece James's cross. The turning point came in the second half with Jurrien Timber's decisive header, again from a dead-ball situation.

Speaking after the match, Arteta admitted that Arsenal could have created a larger margin earlier in the first half: “For most of the time, the team played very well. The lead should have been bigger before halftime. The way we conceded was really painful, but Chelsea have quality players,” he said.

The closing moments made the Spanish strategist uneasy. Even though Chelsea were down a player, they still applied strong pressure. Arteta emphasized: “It was uncomfortable because they have so much quality. Even when using the goalkeeper to build up, they escaped the press very well. There were moments when we were a bit careless, and that needs improvement.”

He also specifically warned about Chelsea's ability to turn the game around, especially with versatile individuals like Cole Palmer: “They can dominate many spaces and change their attacking structure very quickly. They are an impressive team with strong character and a great manager,” Arteta assessed.

Discussing the role of set-pieces, the Arsenal captain affirmed this is a crucial factor in the championship race: “Very important. Recently we haven't scored from dead balls, but today we did. That makes the difference.”

When asked if this is the final stretch indeed, Arteta responded with determination: “We've had that feeling for a long time, that we must keep winning, winning, and winning. That's the beauty of this league.”
