Before even playing, the Vietnam national team ranks second-to-last in Asia in one statistical category.

The Vietnamese women's national team has the second most modest average height at the 2026 Asian Cup Finals.

According to the latest statistics from Asean Football, the Vietnamese women's national team is the team with the second-lowest height at the 2026 Women's Asian Cup Finals. Specifically, the average height of the team in red at this tournament is 160.23 cm, ranking second from the bottom. The lowest is the Bangladesh women's national team at 149.31 cm.

In the Vietnamese women's team, some players with heights ranging from 1.60m to 1.68m include: Thu Thuong (1.68m), Hai Linh (1.66m), Hai Yen (1.62m), Kim Thanh, Thuy Hang (1.65m), Thanh Nha, Vu Thi Hoa (1.63m), Khong Thi Hang (1.69m). Some remaining players are under 1.6m tall, including: Hoang Thi Loan, Huynh Nhu (1.58m), Thai Thi Thao (1.59m), Duong Thi Van, Ngan Thi Van Su (1.50m), Thu Thao (1.58m), My Anh (1.54m), and Bich Thuy (1.53m)...

Meanwhile, the Chinese women's national team has the highest average height in the tournament at 170.88 cm, the host nation Australia ranks second with 170.12 cm, and South Korea places third with an average height of 168.08 cm.

The issue of height is no stranger to Vietnamese football in general and women's football in particular. On numerous occasions, Coach Mai Duc Chung has spoken to the media about this problem:

"We tried very hard; we lost from a penalty, our low and high defensive blocks were not good. The opponent just played long balls without any sophisticated combination play. We lost due to height. After conceding, we equalized, but then lost again from a set-piece situation. Vietnam lost too much in terms of physical stature," Coach Mai Duc Chung said after the win against the Philippines at the 2023 SEA Games.

Nevertheless, the Vietnamese women's national team is reaching its peak condition and determination for the continental tournament. In a group with strong opponents like Japan and Chinese Taipei, Coach Mai Duc Chung believes the chance to advance is evenly distributed among the teams, but the side that strives harder and has favorable factors will gain the advantage. He highly praises the dedication of the players, including many experienced individuals who still play with great passion and the desire to continue pursuing major goals, among them the opportunity to compete at the World Cup.
