Coach Mai Duc Chung predicts the match against Chinese Taipei will be very difficult.

Coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that the Vietnam women's national football team wants to continue their high spirits in Group C of the 2026 Asian Cup when meeting Chinese Taipei at 12:00 tomorrow, March 7th, but conceded this objective is extremely tough.

Confidence will be the foundation for Chinese Taipei when they face the Vietnam women's team in the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals at Perth Rectangular Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Chinese Taipei lost 0-2 to Japan in their opening Group C match, but coach Prasobchoke Chokemor believes his players will bounce back when confronting the Vietnam team, who just defeated India 2-1.

"After the defeat, our goal is to get back up," Chokemor said. "What's important now is to stay strong, maintain belief, and approach the next match with confidence."

In the match against Japan, Coach Chokemor deployed a deep defensive formation, and the Thai tactician is likely to adjust his defensive organization against the Vietnam team.

"We are not overly concerned about the specific tactics to use against Vietnam. My priority is to identify the most important principle: to play for victory. The method of execution can change. Each match is different, but the fundamental mindset remains the same. You must always take the field aiming to win.

Goalkeeper Wang Yu-ting performed excellently against Japan. She is still very young, but these experiences will help her mature. I believe she can become one of Asia's top goalkeepers."

For the Vietnam team, the goal is to sustain the positive momentum following their crucial victory over India, but Coach Mai Duc Chung anticipates the match against Chinese Taipei will be very difficult.

"Fortunately, we won the previous match. Tomorrow we play at 1:00 PM, which is a challenge, and the opponent also understands us quite well," Mr. Mai said. "Playing at noon is not easy, but the team's spirit is very good. We hope to perform similarly to the last match and achieve the desired result.

Each team has tactics depending on the opponent. Chinese Taipei lost their opening match, so I think this time they might play more offensively than before."

If they secure a second consecutive victory, the Vietnam team will move closer to a quarter-final ticket. However, Coach Mai Duc Chung emphasized the team must maintain focus.

"In this group stage, we must continue fighting to advance. We must stay focused and give our all if we want to go far in the tournament.

Chinese Taipei has many experienced players and they have improved significantly over the past four months."

The Vietnam team has won the two most recent matches against Chinese Taipei in the Women's Asian Cup (2022 playoff and 2006 group stage) after losing the first encounter in 1999.

The 2-1 victory in the most recent meeting was also the first time the Vietnam team scored two or more goals against Chinese Taipei in this tournament.

Chinese Taipei has failed to score in 6 of their last 7 group stage matches in the Women's Asian Cup. The Vietnam team is on a 3-match winning streak in the tournament, matching their best-ever run.

Goalkeeper Wang Yu-ting made 9 saves in the first matchday, the most in the tournament, with an 80% save rate.
