Forward Hai Yen: 'Vietnam team believes in victory against Chinese Taipei'

Forward Pham Hai Yen believes that after the victory over India, the Vietnamese women's football team will again achieve good results against Chinese Taipei in the second match of Group C Asian Cup 2026.

At the press conference before the match held this afternoon on March 6 in Perth (Australia), Hai Yen shared: "After the victory over India, the whole team is in very good spirits. We always follow the guidance of the coaching staff, play with high tactical discipline to aim for a good result in the match against Chinese Taipei," Hai Yen shared.

The veteran forward of the Vietnamese women's team also said that she has been with the team for a long time and always strives to contribute her experience to the young players.

"I have been part of the national team since 2011 and have learned a lot from Coach Mai Duc Chung as well as my teammates. Currently, I am assigned a role in the team's leadership group, so I always try to support and guide the young players so that the whole team aims to win in each match."

Meanwhile, head coach Mai Duc Chung said the whole team is actively preparing and also trying to adapt to the hot weather conditions in Australia.

"In the opening match, we fortunately won against India. The next match takes place at 1:00 PM (local time), under hot sunny weather conditions, so there will certainly be many difficulties.

Our previous match was played in the evening, while the opponent is accustomed to playing at midday. However, the Vietnamese women's team will strive to overcome these disadvantages. With our competitive spirit, the whole team will continue to try for the best result."

In each match, we have different tactics depending on the opponent. The Chinese Taipei women's team lost their first match, so they will certainly play more determinedly to earn points.

They might push forward with an attacking formation, different from the defensive play against Japan, which is understandable.

We also have our own tactical plans to suit the developments of the match and our objectives.

As I mentioned before the tournament, in this group the Japanese women's team is rated higher. The other three teams must be very cautious in each match. We do not make long-term calculations but focus on overcoming each difficulty to aim for the goal of advancing," Coach Mai Duc Chung said.
