Competition Format

Teams in each group will play a single round-robin to select the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, to advance to the quarter-finals. The four winning teams in the quarter-finals directly qualify for the 2027 World Cup Finals. The four losing teams play in a play-off to select two winners for the Finals; the two losing teams will participate in the intercontinental play-off. Knock-out matches will apply extra time and penalty shootouts if necessary.
