Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Saudi Arabia and travel to Madrid for treatment following the confirmation that his injury is more severe than anticipated.
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to worry fans after sustaining an injury during Al Nassr's 3-1 victory over Al Fayha in the Saudi Pro League last weekend. The Portuguese star had to limp off the field in the second half, raising concerns about the physical condition of the player who has turned 41.
According to ESPN, during the press conference before the match against Neom Sports Club, Coach Jorge Jesus confirmed the situation of his player. He stated: “In the previous match, Cristiano left the field due to a hamstring injury.” The Al Nassr star underwent medical examinations immediately after the match to assess the extent of the injury.
The Portuguese coach later revealed that the results were not very positive: “After conducting tests, we realized the injury is more serious than initially predicted. He needs rest and recovery.” Therefore, Ronaldo will go to Spain for treatment, and there is no specific timeline for his return yet.
The Al Nassr coach also disclosed the detailed treatment plan: “Cristiano will go to Spain for treatment, along with some other players who are also injured. He will be treated by his personal physiotherapy specialist.” The team's coaching staff hopes the veteran forward can recover quickly to return to play.
Despite being 41 years old, Ronaldo continues to maintain impressive scoring form in the Saudi Pro League. The captain of the Portuguese national team currently has 21 goals in the league, ranking third in the scorers' list. The leader is English forward Ivan Toney of Al Ahli with 23 goals after 23 matches.
This injury also makes Portuguese fans anxious ahead of the upcoming international friendly matches. The European team is scheduled to face the Mexico national team at Estadio Azteca on March 28, before playing against the United States national team on March 31 to prepare for the FIFA World Cup. Al Nassr only hopes their captain can return soon to continue leading the team in the championship race.
