The Vietnam Football Federation has just announced the call-up list for Vietnam U23 this March, totaling 30 players.
This is the first training camp for the Vietnam U23 team after the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup finals, coinciding with the March 2026 FIFA Days for the national team. Therefore, assistant coach Đinh Hồng Vinh continues to be trusted by head coach Kim Sang Sik to take on the role of Acting Head Coach of Vietnam U23. Recently, Mr. Vinh has also been a regular companion to the youth teams U22/U23 during many training camps and international matches.
In his role, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh has played a significant part in the positive results of Vietnam's youth teams. His understanding of the squad and continuous work with various generations of players helps him grasp the potential as well as the development direction for the U23 team.
In this gathering, the goal of Vietnam U23 is to continue building a succession plan as many key players have exceeded U23 age or been promoted to the national team. The coaching staff will focus on reviewing and evaluating the squad to prepare for men's football at the 2026 Asian Games taking place next September.
The core of the expected lineup consists of players from the 2005–2007 age group. The list of 30 called-up players shows the continuity of many faces matured from youth teams such as goalkeeper Phạm Đình Hải, Cao Văn Bình, midfielder Nguyễn Công Phương, Lê Văn Thuận, or forward Nguyễn Lê Phát.
Additionally, this training camp also features several new faces such as Nguyễn Quốc Toản, Nguyễn Anh Tuấn (PVF-CAND), Trần Hải Anh (Quảng Ninh), Nguyễn Trọng Sơn (Bắc Ninh), Tạ Xuân Trường (TTTT II Ninh Bình), and Vũ Quốc Anh (Hải Phòng). These new names are expected to create positive competition within the squad.
According to the plan, Vietnam U23 will train in Hanoi from March 17th. By March 23rd, the coaching staff is expected to shorten the list to 25 players before heading to China for the CFA Team China 2026 International Tournament in Xi'an (March 25–31), where Vietnam U23 will face North Korea U23 on March 25th, Thailand U23 on March 28th, and host China U23 on March 31st.
