Thanh Hoa Football Club is facing the opportunity to have FIFA's transfer ban penalty lifted early after receiving support from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
This information was shared by coach Mai Xuan Hop at the press conference following the0-1 loss to Nam Dinh Steel Blue on March 13th, amidst the context that the Thanh region team has encountered many difficulties regarding squad strength in recent rounds.
Specifically, because FIFA has not lifted the penalty, Thanh Hoa cannot register additional new players. This forces the coaching staff to manage with a very thin squad; many matches have only about 15-16 eligible players available, significantly affecting the team's professional plans.
Coach Mai Xuan Hop stated that the team had prepared personnel plans beforehand, but the entanglement with the penalty has stalled all plans. “We had prepared new personnel plans beforehand. However, the team is entangled with the penalty so we cannot register players yet. According to the latest information from the club's leadership, the Vietnam Football Federation has received the documents and will send them to FIFA for intervention, hoping that within the next one or two days the team can register additional players,” Coach Mai Xuan Hop shared.
The Thanh Hoa coach also expressed gratitude to VFF for promptly assisting the club in completing the necessary procedures. “We are very grateful to the Vietnam Football Federation for supporting Thanh Hoa in handling the related procedures. Most of the team's documents have been received by the Federation and promptly assisted to work with relevant agencies. I would like to thank the Federation's leadership for creating conditions for the club to soon register additional players,” Coach Mai Xuan Hop said.
If the procedures are approved by FIFA in the coming period, Thanh Hoa will soon be able to register new players, thereby reducing the pressure on squad strength during this crucial phase of the season.
