Malaysia's Head Coach Plans for Rematch Against Vietnam

The head coach of Malaysia's national team is preparing plans for the upcoming rematch against Vietnam's national team on March 31.

In preparation for the rematch against Vietnam's national team, Malaysia's coach Peter Cklamovski stated that the coaching staff is developing various personnel options, as the team may face difficulties regarding squad availability.

According to the Australian coach, the Malaysian national team is ready to give opportunities to some new players if they demonstrate good form and meet professional requirements. However, the selection process is still being conducted cautiously, and the coaching staff has not yet made a final decision.

“We are monitoring many players and there may be several new faces called up to the national team. However, it is still too early to determine the exact number because the evaluation process is still ongoing,” Cklamovski shared.

The 46-year-old coach said the Malaysian national team is implementing a thorough screening process to ensure that summoned players can adapt well to the team's tactical system. Besides performance factors, the level of readiness in terms of physical fitness and competitive mentality are also carefully considered by the coaching staff.

Additionally, Cklamovski revealed that the lineup for Malaysia's upcoming training camp is likely to be a combination of experienced players and emerging young talents from the domestic league.

“I want to create competition within the team. Experienced players can bring stability, while young players will bring energy and a desire to prove themselves. This combination can help the team achieve the necessary balance.”

The match between Malaysia and Vietnam at the end of March is part of the qualifying round for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 and is considered an important encounter in the group. Amid the context that AFC has not yet issued an official penalty for "The Malayan Tiger," Vietnam's national team will still proactively prepare optimally, as the team's goal is not only the Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers but also many other important competitions.
