Michael Carrick is making a strong impression by helping Manchester United revive their form. This achievement prompted Sir Jim Ratcliffe to praise him, but his long-term future remains uncertain.
Interim coach Michael Carrick is creating a clear impact at Manchester United after taking over the team in January, even receiving public support from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The 44-year-old strategist was appointed to replace Ruben Amorim and quickly helped the Old Trafford side improve their performance. Under Carrick's guidance, Man Utd won 6 of their first 8 matches, losing only one.
This impressive start has led many fans, experts, and former Man Utd players to call for the management to offer Carrick a long-term contract.
The team's positive performances have also been highly praised by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who currently oversees all sporting operations at Manchester United. When asked by Sky Sports about Carrick's work, the 73-year-old billionaire did not hesitate to commend the English strategist.
“He is doing an excellent job. Really very good,” Ratcliffe shared.
However, when asked whether Carrick could be officially appointed if he continues to maintain his current form, the owner of the INEOS group appeared quite cautious.
“We haven't discussed that yet,” Ratcliffe replied briefly.
Regarding the goal of securing a Champions League spot, Ratcliffe acknowledged that Man Utd's management is considering this possibility, though there are still many matches left in the season:“Obviously we are thinking about that, but there are still seven or eight matches left,” he added.
Currently, Manchester United are ranked 3rd in the Premier League standings and hold a 3-point gap over the 5th-placed team.
Given that English football is likely to have five representatives in next season's Champions League, the chance for the “Red Devils” to secure a spot in Europe's most prestigious competition is becoming brighter.
