Brazilian-born footballer draws attention during first voting experience in Vietnam

Naturalized midfielder Do Hoang Hen participated in his first election on March 15 morning in Hanoi, expressing pride in officially exercising the rights and duties of a Vietnamese citizen.

On March 15 morning, amid the vibrant atmosphere of the nationwide election day, naturalized midfielder Do Hoang Hen arrived very early at the polling station to fulfill the rights and duties of a Vietnamese citizen. The appearance of the Brazilian-origin player quickly attracted attention, as this was his first participation in a significant political event since officially obtaining citizenship.

Around 7 a.m., Hoang Hen arrived at the polling station in Tu Liem district (Hanoi) to cast his vote for the 16th National Assembly delegates and delegates of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. In a solemn yet enthusiastic atmosphere, the midfielder appeared very excited to directly hold the ballot of a voter in his hands.

This is a special milestone for Hoang Hen. Despite having lived and played in Vietnam for many years, only in November last year did hecomplete the citizenship procedures. Therefore, this voting experience holds great significance, marking a turning point as he officially fulfills all the rights and responsibilities of a Vietnamese person.

Sharing his feelings, Hoang Hen could not hide his pride: “I am very proud. This is my first time and it is a truly important day. As a Vietnamese person, I clearly understand my rights and responsibilities, and I must carry them out.”

The midfielder born in 1995 also said that the voting experience brought him many special emotions. “I love Vietnam very much, so this is a wonderful day. This first time makes me very happy. Everything went smoothly. The weather today is beautiful, the streets are not too crowded, and the organization at the polling station is excellent. Everything is perfect.”

Besides the election story, Hoang Hen's future in the Vietnam national team jersey is also attracting fans' attention. When asked about the possibility of being called up in the upcoming training camp, he shared: “I don't know anything about the official list yet. But if Coach Kim Sang Sik wants me to play for the national team, I am always ready.” Currently, this midfielder is awaiting the completion of the FIFA federation transfer procedures, and if everything goes smoothly, he could fully participate in Vietnam national team matches in the near future.
