The Malaysian Football Federation organized the AFC Women's Football Day 2026 event at the Wisma FAM headquarters in Kelana Jaya last Saturday.

The Malaysian Football Federation (FAM) held the AFC Women's Football Day 2026 event at the Wisma FAM headquarters in Kelana Jaya on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in observance of International Women's Day celebrated on March 8.

The program was led by the head coach of the Malaysian women's national team, Joel Cornell, and the coach of the Malaysian women's U17 team, Leila Chua. These two coaches directly instructed and supported eight other coaches, aiming to further develop the women's football ecosystem in the country.

A total of 90 young female players aged 12 to 15, from various states such as Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, as well as federal territories Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, participated in the program.

The activities focused on skill development, enhancing teamwork spirit, and igniting passion for football among young athletes.

The Malaysian Football Federation hosted the AFC Women's Football Day 2026 program at the Wisma FAM headquarters located in Kelana Jaya.

Through training sessions, matches, and professional guidance, FAM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women's football development in Malaysia, while creating a platform for young players to shine both on and off the field.

The AFC Women's Football Day 2026 event at Wisma FAM also emphasized the importance of inclusivity, opportunity, and development in sports, inspiring the next generation of female players to reach their potential.

Regarding the Malaysian women's national team, the Technical Director of Women's Football for the Malaysian Football Federation, Soleen Al-Zoubi, recently declined the invitation to participate in the women's football event at ASIAD 2026. The reason is that the entire team has already arranged other plans, including the women's national league at the end of April, the AFF qualification scheduled for July, and the Malaysian Sports Festival.
