Player Xuan Son feels happy and proud when going to vote.

Player Nguyen Xuan Son of Nam Dinh Steel Blue Club and the Vietnam national team shared his feelings when going to vote on March 15.

On March 15, in the atmosphere of the nationwide festival, forward Nguyen Xuan Son proudly went to cast his vote, fulfilling the rights and duties of a Vietnamese citizen.

This is his first time participating in an election after becoming a Vietnamese citizen, so this moment holds special significance for him and his family.

"Son feels happy and proud when going to vote for the first time as a Vietnamese citizen. This is something extremely special and meaningful for Son and his family," Xuan Son shared.

Not only Xuan Son, many naturalized players and athletes also enthusiastically participated in the election activities for the 16th National Assembly delegates and delegates of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

On the same morning, naturalized player Do Hoang Hen (Hanoi Club) arrived at the polling station in Tu Liem ward (Hanoi) to fulfill his civic duty.

He woke up at 6:00 AM and arrived at the polling station at 7:00 AM. Before going to vote, Hoang Hen said he had researched information about the candidates.

During the voting process at polling station number 22 Mai Dich, he communicated quite well in Vietnamese when interacting with the guiding officials. Hoang Hen naturalized as Vietnamese in October 2025 after accumulating 5 consecutive years of living and playing in V-League 1.

At the club level, The Cong – Viettel had up to 45 players issued voter cards and participated in the election on March 15. The players cast their votes at the polling station of the Political Officer School, while some exercised their civic rights at their residence due to preparations for the Round 16 match of V.League 2025/26 against Hai Phong Club at Hang Day Stadium.

Meanwhile, naturalized defender Do Phi Long of SHB Da Nang also arrived early at the polling station to fulfill his rights and duties.

On March 15, nearly 79 million voters nationwide cast their votes to elect delegates for the 16th National Assembly and delegates of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. In the atmosphere of the nationwide festival, many athletes, coaches, and sports teams also enthusiastically exercised their civic rights and duties.

According to statistics from the National Election Council, the country had 78,928,647 voters participating in voting at 72,195 election areas in 34 provinces and cities. The voting activity started at 7 AM and lasted until 7 PM on the same day, however, depending on actual conditions, election teams could organize earlier but not before 5 AM or later but not after 9 PM.

Previously, the National Election Council announced the list of 864 National Assembly delegate candidates in 182 election units to select 500 delegates for the 16th National Assembly. At the local level, the number of provincial People's Council delegates to be elected is 2,552 from 4,217 candidates, while the commune level will elect 72,611 delegates from 120,873 candidates.
