Manchester United's top scorer appears injured, enduring a 5-game drought and being substituted each match! Faces new challenges next season.

Manchester United secured a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa at home, yet their primary striker Mbeumo remained off the scoring sheet. Additionally, before his substitution in the 75th minute, he sat on the pitch, prompting concerns from legend Gary Neville about a potential injury.

After being replaced by Sesko, Mbeumo shook his head and conversed with Diogo Dalot, walking with a noticeable limp. Neville, commenting on Sky Sports, remarked: "Is Mbeumo injured? He's walking with a limp. He shook his head as he left the field and glanced at a United teammate, suggesting something might be wrong."

Mbeumo's body language undoubtedly worries Manchester United fans and manager Carrick. The 26-year-old Cameroonian forward has now failed to score for the Red Devils in five consecutive Premier League matches, despite previously being one of the team's standout performers.

Mbeumo has featured in every match under Carrick's management, often playing as the central striker in a false nine role. Carrick's first game coincided with Mbeumo's return from the Africa Cup of Nations, and the striker scored three goals in the new manager's initial four matches, followed by assists in the next two.

However, Mbeumo has not scored in the last five games and has not contributed to any goals in the past three matches, frequently being substituted. His performance level has faced some scrutiny, with post-match ratings hovering around five or six points. His Premier League goal tally has been matched by teammate Sesko, both now tied at nine goals as the team's top scorers.

In Manchester United's match against Everton, Mbeumo also experienced a concerning injury moment, limping off when replaced by Mazraoui. There were doubts about his availability for the Crystal Palace game, but he eventually started and played 85 minutes.

Sunday's victory further solidified Manchester United's position in the Premier League's Champions League spots. Carrick's team currently sits firmly in third place, more importantly holding a six-point lead over the sixth position, with the Premier League likely to have five direct Champions League qualification spots next season.

For Mbeumo, that presents a fresh challenge; the 26-year-old Cameroonian has never participated in European competitions in his career! Although he was a reliable performer at Brentford, playing nearly all 38 Premier League matches last season, the pressure of playing three games a week will be entirely different.

Insights from the "Bees" suggest that Mbeumo is bound to face difficulties by the end of this season. Due to limited preseason minutes (only 45 minutes against Everton) and training off grass before his £71 million move to Manchester United to avoid injury, he might find playing two or three matches weekly quite challenging.

Manchester United's next match is away against Bournemouth on Friday night, with a tighter schedule than usual, and Mbeumo's availability for this game is once again uncertain. Fortunately, an international break follows, and the Red Devils won't play again until April 13 against Leeds United. Carrick hopes Mbeumo recovers quickly and regains his form.
