OFFICIAL: Do Hoang Hen First Called Up to Vietnam National Team

Naturalized midfielder Do Hoang Hen has been summoned for his first call-up to the Vietnam National Team during the FIFA Days training camp in March 2026.

According to the announcement from VFF, Hoang Hen is included in Vietnam's preparatory squad for this gathering, aimed at the friendly match against Bangladesh and the rematch against Malaysia in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. The inclusion of the midfielder born in 1994 is considered a crucial reinforcement for the team's midfield under coach Kim Sang-sik.

Hoang Hen is actually the Vietnamese name of Brazilian-born player Hendrio Araujo, who completed his naturalization procedures in October 2025 after over five years of living and playing in Vietnam. Having developed in Spain's football training environment, this player possesses good individual technique, a creative playing style, and flexible situational handling ability in tight spaces.

According to FIFA regulations, Hoang Hen became eligible to represent the Vietnam national team from late 2025. This opens the opportunity for the naturalized midfielder to be part of coach Kim Sang-sik's personnel plans for upcoming international competitions.

Despite missing the first half of the 2025/26 V.League 1 season to complete his naturalization and register as a domestic player, Hoang Hen quickly made an impact wearing the Hanoi Club jersey. After 10 appearances in V.League 2025/26, this midfielder has scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists.

Not only directly contributing to goals, Hoang Hen also acts as a "distribution hub" in the capital team's gameplay. His excellent vision and game-changing passes make him a key element in the tactical system of the purple-clad team.

One of this midfielder's most standout performances came in the capital derby during Round 15 of V.League, when he scored a double to help Hanoi FC defeat Cong An Hanoi FC, thereby ending the opponent's unbeaten streak. In that match, Hoang Hen not only scored but also played the role of a "conductor," controlling the tempo and guiding the team's overall play.

Before the crucial match against Malaysia in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers, the Vietnam national team will have a warm-up friendly against Bangladesh on March 26.
