Coach Kim Sang Sik revitalizes the Vietnamese national team

The March FIFA Days training camp for the Vietnamese national team marks a comprehensive "revitalization" of the team. Under Coach Kim Sang Sik's guidance, the Vietnamese national team is being restructured to become more competitive.

The most noticeable point is the return of players once considered pillars, but now returning in a completely different context.

Doan Van Hau is a prime example. After nearly two years struggling with injuries, the 1999-born defender has not only returned but also provides multiple tactical options for the Vietnamese national team.

Van Haucan play as a left defender or a left-sided center-back. Van Hau's presence significantly strengthens and adds flexibility to the defensive line.

In the goalkeeper position, the competition is even fiercer. Nguyen Filip, Dang Van Lam, and Tran Trung Kien are all maintaining stable form at their clubs. Each has their own strengths, with Nguyen Filip andVan Lambeing experienced, while Trung Kien is young and full of ambition.

This creates a "silent battle" in the goal frame, where no one's position is guaranteed, not to mention Le Giang, Van Viet, or Dinh Trieu also waiting for their next opportunity.

If the defense and goalkeeper provide reassurance, the attack is where the spirit of renewal is most evident. The return of Nguyen Xuan Son brings high expectations. After a period of stagnation, this forward is eager to prove himself, especially since his position is no longer untouchable.

NewcomerDo Hoang Henbrings a distinct fresh air. With his technical left foot and creative ball-handling ability, Hoang Hen is expected to add an element of "spontaneity" to the attacking style. More importantly, the Hanoi FC forward brings an eager spirit, the kind of energy a rebuilding team greatly needs.

Notably, even names once thought irreplaceable no longer have "privilege." Vietnam's Golden Ball 2024 winner Nguyen Tien Linh was excluded from the list.

Meanwhile, the Golden Ball 2025 owner Hoang Duc is also not guaranteed a starting spot. Hoang Hen and Quang Hai, Thanh Long could always be alternatives to the captain from Ninh Binh.
