Manchester United may offload four goalkeepers this summer, with Onana needing a sale of 20 million euros! Club's best-ever backup keeper announces retirement.

Manchester United's summer recruitment needs almost certainly include the goalkeeper position. British media reports that after this season concludes, as many as four existing goalkeepers could leave or retire, including André Onana, Tom Heaton, Radek Vítek, and Dermot Mee.

Manchester United intends to sell 29-year-old Cameroon international Onana, currently on loan to Turkish Super League side Trabzonspor for a season with no purchase option. The Red Devils have set a price above 40 million euros, but Turkish clubs find it unaffordable and are set to return him.

Onana's contract with Manchester United runs until 2028. Under the Premier League's PSR profitability and sustainability rules, the club needs to sell him for 20 million euros to avoid a book loss. Onana himself wishes to return, but United urgently wants to sell him.

Turkish international Altay Bayındır started six matches early in the season but made repeated errors, losing his starting spot to Sena Ramens. Besiktas is interested in signing Bayındır, who turns 28 next month. He joined United from Fenerbahçe in 2023 for 5 million euros, and his departure price may remain similar.

Manchester United also plans to sit down with third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton in the coming weeks to discuss his future. Heaton turns 40 next month and remains open to either extending his contract to continue as a training squad member next season or retiring to become a coach. Heaton is part of United's six-member leadership group in the dressing room, and sources say he has an excellent relationship with 23-year-old Ramens, feeling an instant connection.

Academy youngster Dermot Mee, the same age as Ramens, also serves as a training squad member in the first team, as Carrick's staff only has Craig Mawson as a goalkeeper coach. Originally there was another goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital, but he was dismissed along with Rúben Amorim.

Therefore, in recent away matches, Dermot Mee has traveled with the team to the stadium for warm-ups but does not enter the match squad.

Manchester United hopes to recall 22-year-old Czech goalkeeper Vítek next season. He is currently loaned to Championship side Bristol City and has started 33 matches for them. He has yet to make his United first-team debut, having only been a substitute seven times previously and occasionally appearing in preseason games.

Vítek's contract with Manchester United expires in 2027. The club believes he has the potential to challenge Ramens for a first-team spot. However, the player might also choose to leave United if he wants regular starting opportunities. In that case, the Red Devils would need to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.

Manchester United hopes to find another Sergio Romero, who served as backup to David de Gea and was hailed as "the world's best second-choice goalkeeper." The Argentine keeper spent six years at United, playing 61 matches and winning four trophies, including starting in the 2017 Europa League final and keeping a clean sheet to help United beat Ajax 2-0 for the title.

Now 39-year-old Romero left United and played three years for Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors, later joining Argentinos Juniors. After his contract expired last December, according to "TyC Sports," despite offers to continue playing, Romero decided to retire due to family reasons.

It is said Romero hoped to return to his childhood club, but the team he supported since youth did not invite him, so Romero decided to hang up his boots, eager to start a new career as a coach. Romero stated: "Ready to cross the line and begin a career that will surely be wonderful."

When asked about his coaching style and tactics, Romero seemed to subtly criticize former United manager Rúben Amorim, saying he would build tactics around the characteristics of his players. Romero firmly believes that having played under Van Gaal and Mourinho, he will certainly become a successful coach.

Romero said: "I would take the step into coaching without any problem. I watch football often, enjoying matches from all countries and leagues, even lower divisions. My coaching style? Football hinges on moments; the names of teams and players, you must adapt based on the squad you have. Playing in Europe and learning from Van Gaal, Mourinho, Martino, and Sampaoli gave me the skills needed to be a coach."
