Contributing six representatives to the 2025-2026 Champions League Round of 16 is a remarkable achievement for the Premier League this season. However, in the first leg, all six teams from England failed to secure a victory.

In the second leg, only Arsenal managed to win and advance to the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, both Manchester City and Chelsea were eliminated in bitter fashion.

Manager Arne Slot could not celebrate his 100th match leading Liverpool as hoped in the first leg last week. However, this strategist asserts that the team can definitely perform better in the return match under the electrifying atmosphere at Anfield.

Last season, Liverpool were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Stopping at this stage for a second consecutive season would increase pressure on Manager Slot, given that he has won only one of his last four matches across all competitions (drawing one, losing two).

In the Premier League, the Merseyside team's ambition to finish in the Top 4 suffered a heavy blow when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham Hotspur in the recent round. Richarlison's 90th-minute equalizer left The Kop stuck in fifth place, trailing Aston Villa by two points with only eight rounds remaining in the season.

Anfield remains a strong fortress, as Liverpool have won 15 of their last 19 home matches in UEFA competitions. They have also won 5 of their 6 encounters against Turkish representatives in Europe (drawing one), keeping a clean sheet in all five of those victories.

However, Liverpool's record in knockout rounds is concerning, as they have been eliminated in 11 of their last 16 instances after losing the first leg away.

The team under Manager Okan Buruk holds the advantage to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since the 2012-2013 season. Galatasaray have reason to be confident, having won 14 of their last 17 two-legged ties in UEFA competitions after winning the first leg at home.

However, the Turkish club's away form in the Champions League is very poor. Galatasaray have lost 19 of their last 23 matches (winning 2, drawing 2) and have won only 1 of their last 12 visits to England.

Defense is also a persistent concern, as Galatasaray have kept a clean sheet in only 3 of their last 33 European matches. Yet, two of those were achieved against Liverpool this season.

Galatasaray are leading the Turkish national championship, having temporarily widened the gap with the second-place team to 7 points, with 10 rounds remaining in the season.

The match between Liverpool and Galatasaray will take place at 3:00 on March 19.

Expected Starting Lineups for Both Teams

Liverpool: Alisson, Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz, Ekitike

Galatasaray: Cakir, Sallai, Singo, Bardakci, Jakobs, Torreira, Lemina, Yilmaz, Sara, Lang, Osimhen
