The Vietnam national team has been confirmed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals after Malaysia was handed a 0-3 defeat. It is highly likely that Coach Kim Sang Sik will attend the draw ceremony for the tournament's group stage on April 11.
According to AFC's announcement, the draw ceremony for the 2027 Asian Cup finals group stage will be held on April 11 at the Diriyah Salwa Palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The host nation Saudi Arabia is assigned to Group A with the code A1 and will play the opening match on January 7, 2027 at King Fahd Sports City Stadium against an opponent with the code A4, which is pending the draw. It is expected that Coach Kim Sang Sik will attend this particularly important event.

Up to the present moment, the Vietnam national team leads Group F (15 points), having secured qualification for the finals before the final match on March 31, where they will face Malaysia again.
Since AFC also recognizes the Vietnam national team as the 21st out of 24 teams already confirmed for the finals, the 2027 Asian Cup finals now only await the confirmation of the holders of the last three qualification spots. These are the contests between Tajikistan and Philippines in Group A, Lebanon and Yemen in Group B, and Thailand and Turkmenistan in Group D.
These final spots will be determined after the last round of qualifying matches on March 31.
The Asian Cup 2027 will take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027 in three cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar. King Fahd Sports City Stadium in the capital Riyadh will host the opening match featuring the host nation Saudi Arabia (three-time Asian champions).
This stadium, with a capacity of 72,000 seats and the largest among the eight venues, will also host four additional group stage matches, including the host nation's second match on January 12, along with one Round of 16 match (January 24) and one quarter-final (January 29), before the final takes place a week later.
Meanwhile, King Saud University Stadium (26,000 seats) will host five group stage matches and one Round of 16 match (January 25). Kingdom Arena (also 26,000 seats) will stage four group stage matches, one Round of 16 match (January 22), and one quarter-final (January 28).

Completing the venues in Riyadh, Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud University Stadium (25,000 seats) will host five group stage matches and one Round of 16 match (January 23), while Al Shabab Stadium (13,000 seats) will host four group stage matches and one Round of 16 match (January 22).
In Jeddah, King Abdullah Sports City Stadium (60,000 seats), the second-largest venue of the tournament, will host five group stage matches along with matches in the Round of 16 (January 25), quarter-finals (January 28), and semi-finals (February 2). Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium (26,000 seats) will host four group stage matches and one Round of 16 match (January 24).
The new stadium in Al Khobar (45,000 seats), currently under final construction, will host matches in all rounds except the final, including four group stage matches, one Round of 16 match (January 23), one quarter-final (January 29), and the first semi-final (February 1).
