Four Malaysian players competing abroad have been called up to strengthen Malaysia's lineup for the upcoming match against the Vietnam national team on March 31.
According to the Makanbolawebsite, these four names include defender Dion Cools from Cerezo Osaka, Daniel Ting (Ratchaburi FC), Endrick dos Santos (Ho Chi Minh City Police Club), and Sergio Aguero (Kanchanaburi Power). They are part of the 28-player roster summoned by Australian coach Peter Cklamovski to prepare for the final match in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifying round.
Among them, Daniel Ting and Dion Cools are expected to make a significant impact in the defensive line due to their impressive performances for their respective clubs. Daniel contributed to helping Ratchaburi (nicknamed The Dragons) reach the quarter-finals of AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2). Additionally, this club is also competing for the runner-up position in Thai League 1, a spot that could secure them a ticket to the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE).
Although Cerezo Osaka is facing difficulties in the Western region of J-League 1, Dion Cools maintains stable form and is a pillar of the team's defense. In fact, the former Buriram United player was recently named in the J-League 1 Western region's weekly standout team.
Coach Cklamovski is expected to leverage the experience of this quartet to help Malaysia aim for a positive result during their away match in Vietnam on March 31.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team has announced a 23-player roster and will assemble in Hanoi starting March 21. Players participating in the quarter-finals of the 2025/26 National Cup and the postponed match of Round 13 of V.League 2025/26 will join the training camp later.
During this FIFA Days period, the national team will have an international friendly match against Bangladesh at 7:00 PM on March 26 at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi), before moving to Ninh Binh to prepare for hosting Malaysia at Thiên Trường Stadium on March 31 within the framework of the Asian Cup 2027 final qualifying round.
