According to an announcement from the Bangladesh Football Federation, the Bangladesh national team will arrive in Hanoi on the morning of March 21, five days earlier than the scheduled FIFA Days international friendly match against the Vietnam national team at Hang Day Stadium.
This proactive early arrival demonstrates the visiting team's serious preparation and high determination, aiming to best adapt to the weather conditions, pitch, and playing environment in Vietnam.
Previously, the Bangladesh national team had regrouped from March 16 to begin their preparation process. Although head coach Javier Penato has not yet announced the official list for the trip to Vietnam, the preliminary roster has revealed several notable players. Among them, there are up to seven Bangladeshi-origin players who developed in football systems of countries like England, Finland, the USA, Canada, or Denmark, promising to bring a highly competitive profile to the "Bengal Tigers".
The most prominent among them is midfielder Hamza Choudhury – a player who has competed in the English Premier League wearing Leicester City's colors. Joining Leicester's academy at age 7, Choudhury progressed through youth levels and has seven appearances for England's U21 team. In his club career, he helped Leicester City win the FA Cup in the 2020/2021 season, the English Super Cup in 2021, and clinched the English Championship title in the 2023/24 season. Choudhury's presence is expected to significantly elevate the quality of Bangladesh's squad.
For the Vietnam national team, the match against Bangladesh is seen as an important warm-up before coach Kim Sang Sik and his team host Malaysia at Thien Truong Stadium (Ninh Binh) on March 31 in the final Asian Cup 2027 qualifying round. Therefore, the contest at Hang Day is not merely a friendly; it also serves as an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the squad, refine their playing style, and test tactical options.
Regarding the organization of the match, the Vietnam Football Federation has also issued an official announcement regarding the ticket sales plan for fans. Accordingly, tickets will be distributed via the OneU app (formerly VinID) with two price tiers (200,000 VND and 300,000 VND), facilitating convenient access for fans to come and support the national team. Organizational, security, and spectator service efforts are being coordinated comprehensively, aiming for a lively, safe, and emotionally rich match at Hang Day Stadium.
