VFF President attends the 2026 Asian Cup Final

VFF Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan observed and attended the women's Asian Cup final between Australia and Japan.

On the afternoon of March 21, in the final match of the 2026 Women's Asian Football Championship, the Japanese women's team defeated host Australia 1-0 to claim the championship title.

The match was exciting from the very beginning as Australia proactively pushed their formation forward. In the 2nd minute, Sam Kerr had a shooting opportunity inside the penalty area, but goalkeeper Yamashita made a timely save. Subsequently, the host team continued to create several dangerous situations, notably a shot by Caitlin Foord, but could not convert it into a goal.

After enduring early pressure, Japan gradually regained control of the match. In the 17th minute, a turning point occurred when Maika Hamano received the ball at the edge of the penalty area, turned, and fired a sharp shot to score the opening goal for Japan.

In the second half, Australia increased pressure to find an equalizing goal. The host team continuously organized attacks with plays from both wings and shots inside the penalty area, but encountered Japan's solid defense. Notable opportunities, such as Gorry's shot or Kennedy's header, could not overcome the excellent performance of goalkeeper Yamashita.

In the final minutes, Australia launched a full-force attack but faced many obstacles, while Japan's defense played fiercely to preserve the score. Ultimately, Japan secured a 1-0 victory, thereby claiming the Asian championship title for the third time.

The championship title is a deserved reward for the consistent and resilient performance of the Japanese women's team throughout the tournament.

The final match saw the presence of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – AFC Standing Committee Member, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) – in the stands observing and attending.
