The FA Cup champion cannot yet join the team in Vietnam

Midfielder Hamza Choudhury will join the Bangladesh national team late due to still serving his club.

On March 21, the Bangladesh national team arrived in Hanoi to prepare for the friendly match during the FIFA Days in March 2026 against the Vietnam national team. Under the guidance of coach Javier Cabrera, the whole team will have about 5 days to complete preparations before the match takes place at 19:00 on March 26 at Hang Day Stadium.

According to the registered list, Bangladesh brought to Vietnam a squad consisting of many players currently playing abroad. Notably, some individuals are playing or have developed in football environments such as England, Finland, the USA, Canada, and Denmark, promising to bring diverse expertise to the South Asian team.

However, midfielder Hamza Choudhury – a player under contract with Leicester City and who has played in the Premier League – has not yet joined the full team due to his club's schedule. He is expected to arrive in Vietnam on March 24 to join the Bangladesh national team.

The most prominent among them is midfielder Hamza Choudhury – a player who has competed in the Premier League with Leicester City. Joining Leicester's academy at age 7, Choudhury progressed through youth levels and has represented England U21 seven times. In his club career, he won the FA Cup with Leicester City in the 2020/2021 season, the English Super Cup in 2021, and the English Championship title in the 2023/24 season. Choudhury's presence is expected to significantly enhance the quality of the Bangladesh squad.

Regarding the Vietnam national team, coach Kim Sang Sik and his players also gathered in Hanoi from the morning of March 21. However, the squad is not yet complete as some players from Ninh Bình and The Cong Viettel are busy with the National Cup (they will join on March 22), while the group of CAHN players will join later on March 23 after a postponed match in V.League.

After the match at Hang Day Stadium, both teams will proceed to the next round of the Asian Cup final qualifying stage on March 31. At that time, the Vietnam national team will host Malaysia at Thien Truong Stadium, while Bangladesh will be guests on Singapore's field.
