Jurgen Klopp bluntly dismisses rumors of coaching Real Madrid, calling them "senseless," yet hints at a possible return to coaching in the near future
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, did not hide his annoyance at the persistent rumors linking him to the hot seat at Real Madrid. The German tactician outright rejected all such information, even labeling it as "completely senseless" and fabricated by "foolish people."
During a media exchange in Ismaning, Klopp confirmed he has never received any contact from the Spanish Royal club. "It's still the same old people writing it. All of it is fabricated. They have never called me, not even once. Even my agent hasn't received any call," the 58-year-old strategist emphasized, thereby completely extinguishing the wave of speculation that has persisted.
Currently, Klopp holds the role of Global Football Director for the Red Bull group, with a contract extending until 2029. After many years of high-intensity work at Liverpool, he chose to step away from the coaching bench to seek balance. Nevertheless, the former captain of "The Kop" also left open the possibility of returning to the pitch in the future.
"I might be at a different stage of my life, but as a coach, I am not completely finished. I am not at retirement age. No one knows what will happen in the next few years, but currently there is no concrete plan," Klopp shared.
Not only did he quash rumors regarding Real Madrid, Klopp also dismissed the possibility of coaching the German national team in the near future, despite speculation surrounding Julian Nagelsmann's position. He affirmed his full support for his younger colleague and has no intention of stepping into that role.
At the executive level, Red Bull's leadership also showed a clear stance by firmly defending Klopp against transfer rumors. CEO Oliver Mintzlaff once stated that information about Klopp leaving was "completely fabricated" and emphasized the group's great satisfaction with his work.
With a long-term contract still in effect and strong backing from the leadership, it is evident that Klopp's near future remains tied to his executive role. However, the door to returning to the coaching bench where he made his name is not completely closed.
